Open Government Partnership Working Group to draft National Action Plan V held its first session

By order of the Minister of Mongolia and the Chief Cabinet Secretary, the composition of the Working Group to develop and present the draft of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) 2024-2027 National Action Plan V (NAP V) of Mongolia was approved. Working group met on November 8, 2023 and started developing the content of the plan. During the drafting of the NAP V, the Independent Reporting Mechanism of the OGP recommended expanding civic space, improving the transparency of the extractive industry, making public procurement transparent, strengthening deliberative democracy, and continuing to work on commitments that were not completed during the previous plan.

During the meeting, members of the Working Group expressed their positions: OGP Envoy L.Tur-Od told the history of how Mongolia joined OGP, Director of "Strategy Academy" NGO D. Bumdar and Head of "Center for Human Rights and Development" NGO G. Urantsooj mentioned the importance of transparency in the mineral resources sector and wealth fund, Executive Director of "Youth Policy Watch" NGO B.Amarzaya and Member of the Board of Directors of the “Mongolian Lawyers' Association” Kh. Oyuntsetseg both shared their thoughts on the benefits of this partnership, Executive director of the "Media Council of Mongolia" NGO G. Gunjidmaa highlighted the Law of Press freedom, Head of the research committee of the "Human Rights and Progressive Policy Institute" NGO S. Amarmend asked about good implementation cases from the previous report of Mongolia, Manager of the governance program of the "Open Society Forum" NGO D. Oyunbadam discussed budget transparency, and Executive director of the "Tungaahui Data Studio" LLC E. Tungalag initiated an idea of "open data" as a new separate commitment. The 2nd session of the Working group will be held online on November 15, 2023.
